End Of Summer???

Well, all of us know this fact, but most of us can't get a grip on it. The end of summer is right around the corner which motivates us to spend the rest of it perfectly. We don't want to waste a minute, because we don't have a lot of them left. So being human and fleshy, our mindset is me, me, me, and me. What can please me. Well lets see what God says about that, and lets also ponder on what spending the rest of our summer perfectly really is.

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Now this is radical thinking. Consider others better than yourself. This way of thinking is completely opposite from the world. The world says do whatever makes you fell good do it, whatever you want to do, and when you want to do it. Considering others better than yourself is denying your flesh and putting Gods commands above yourself too. Now this is the first part of the perfect last weeks of summer. Serving others and denying your flesh brings you true joy if your a Christian.

Col. 3:1-4 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. So this passage is saying that we should set our minds on things above. Now how do we do this; three great ways of doing this are indepth prayer, continual prayer, and meditating on Gods word. Indepth prayer is when you talk to God very personally. I use the acronym ACTS to make my prayer time more organized. Admiration Confession Thanksgiving Supplication. I tell God who he is, confess my sins to him, thank Him, and pray for myself and others. Continual prayer is consulting God with everything; its kind of a day long conversation in your head with God; your constantly thinking about Him. Meditation on the word of God is important too.

I should also add that you apply what you read in the Bible to your life as well as meditate on it. What I mean by meditate isn't to sit indian style and hum ,but think about what you studied on in the Bible throughout the day. Thats why it is important to read the Bible daily as well; you'll be able to think on it and apply it to your life. Combining these two scriptures and applying it to your life will result in the best couple weeks of your summer because they'll be God centered, not self centered.
